Ammo Cost Per Round Calculator
Enter what you paid and how many rounds you got to see your cost per round. Add shipping and tax if you want the true price, then use the budget section to see what a range trip, a month, and a year of shooting cost.
How cost per round works
Cost per round is the price of the box divided by the number of rounds in it. A 50-round box that costs 20 dollars works out to 40 cents per round. It's the best way to compare ammo, because boxes come in different sizes: a 100-round box at 40 dollars is the same price per round as a 50-round box at 20.
Why it's worth knowing
- **Comparing deals.** Bulk packs, case lots, and sales are easy to compare when everything is a per-round number.
- **Budgeting.** Multiply by the rounds you shoot per trip to see what a range day really costs.
- **Spotting changes.** Prices move around, and keeping track tells you what a good price looks like for your calibers.
What the calculator doesn't include
The result covers ammunition, plus any shipping and tax you enter. Range fees, targets, and cleaning supplies add to the true cost of shooting, so factor those in if you want a full picture.
Track it automatically
Ammo Box records the price of every box you add, and shows you total money spent and the current value of your inventory. Logging your range sessions keeps your counts accurate, so you can see how your spending compares to how much you actually shoot.
